description
This graphic document, created by Louis Süe in 1909, illustrates the perspective of the fashion show salon at Paul Poiret's fashion house, located on Avenue d'Antin (now Avenue Franklin-D.-Roosevelt) in Paris. The work is done in pencil and watercolor on tracing paper mounted on thick cardboard. Before 1909, Poiret did not stage his models, unlike designers such as Lucile and Beer. That year, he moved into an 18th-century mansion, which he had renovated by Louis Süe, and set up a proscenium stage dedicated to fashion shows, inspired by a scene by Lucile published in Femina the previous year.
